In Rome, Italy the Pope Benedict XVI stated that “sexual abuse of children is a heinous crime.” He later went on with saying that it's also “a grave sin that offends God and wounds human dignity.” The faith had been declining ever since the 2004 discovery of child abuse reports. People become angry with his Holiness for not providing safety to protect the victims. Trust in the church has hit a serious blow and moral lessons it teaches. The reports of four bishops resignation lead the Pope to speak to the church. There was “widespread” cover ups in Ireland dating from 1975-2004.
I think it's good that the pope's declared child abuse as a sin. The Catholic Religion will have that scandal for a long time though. The religion just can't get a break. At least this shows that the Pope is trying to get the message across to others. I am disgusted that people who say they work for God and yet make young children suffer and put them through something like that. I think the author would agree with me on this. This will effect the future, hopefully, for the religion, but the scandal will always be a discovery of shocking proportion that will trail the religion for a long time.
Just a week after Washington D.C. gets plummeted with two back to back snow blizzards, the south receives some of the winter weather as well. However, maybe not as much at 28 inches of snow, but still enough to cause a massive effect. Record snow causes power to go out, major traffic and traffic accidents, classes to close, and flights canceled. It's not much surprised how the snow effected the south, since there hasn't been this much snow in about over a decade or so in some areas. Even less than a foot of snow effected places in areas that are known for humidity and temperatures never getting below 41 degrees in February. Places in the Deep South take extra caution with the effects of the snow fall. People were advised to stay indoors and not drive on the highway unless they needed to.
The storm has become a big setback for Texas. Since I'm writing this right now in the library because my power has been cut off and school was canceled. May this be a lesson to me that I shouldn't hold off doing my homework last minute. This artical shows thatwe are proof that it only takes a full day of nonstop snowing to effect the south this much. I've never seen so much snow in real life, that I can remember of. I love it! Yesterday was beautiful and pure white, but now it's slowly turning to the grey slush Texas usually gets. To me the upside is that snow makes everything nice and beautiful, but there's a lot to deal with. What comes with snow is possible power outage. Which for me means I can't cook leftovers with the microwave, or call Dominoes without having to use my cell phone, which I can't even use because it didn't charge last night when the power went out at 11:30pm. This also means one of the most important, no heat. I'll look on the bright side though, at least I won't have to worry about the refrigerator, the house is plenty cold to keep our food preserved! Yah! Snow makes the roads very dangerous to drive in, but good thing my dad has experience in the driving in the snow when we used to live in New York, so I'm not that worried. I also feel a little bit sorry for the fast-food restaurants having an onslaught of orders to make since no one has power. I think the author agrees with me when I say the only ones who are for the snow are the ones who don't have anything better to do. This snow will effect the future, including mine! There's no school today! Which came a little surprising because everyone knows our district will do absolutely anything to avoid having to cancel classes. Like yesterday. So that also means that students will have to make up this day! At least we got a four day weekend out of it!! YAH!!
One-time planet, Pluto, is changing it's appearance. Scientists are surprised not by the color change, but by how rapid the change is occurring. The color Pluto is a yellow-orange hue and it has now 20% more red in some areas. Also, in the areas that are dark red, the temperature is said to possibly be 30 degrees warmer. However, since there is not that much scientists know about the distant planet, not much research can be done. It might take many decades to be able to learn more about Pluto when it is closer to the sun. astronomers will keep looking at Pluto with the space hubble to see if the change will steady.
I think that's awesome! I still wish Pluto was a planet. I don't know why though, I just do. I think it's cool to be able to be able to hear and see the color change in Pluto. I think the author agrees with me, except maybe not about Pluto being a dwarf planet now. This will change the future of planets and science. Pluto will be looked at more now. This is the only planet I've heard of that has change color, so it's kind of exciting!
Culpeper County public school officials have stopped teaching the lesson of Anne Frank's diary due to parent complaints. Director of instruction James Allen states that The Dairy of a Young Girl: The Definitive Edition, will no longer be taught in the school system. This book was published on the 50th anniversary of Anne Frank's death. Due to complaints by parents that the book had sexually explicit material and homosexual themes, the earlier version of the book will be used instead. However, this book will still be available in the library to read. The decision was made in November and became official Thursday. Complaints had to be written and submitted to a committee for reviewing.
I think that not teaching the newer version of Anne Frank, kids will probably want to read it. The parents are doing the opposite of what they want to be done. This will effect the future of the kids, but I don't think it'll be too important. They'll still be taught the earlier version, so not much will change. I just think they went through all this just to edit out some passages in a book? Kids already know so much at an early age and at least in this book you'll learn important values along the way. Since I haven't read the book I don't know how much different it is from the earlier version. As long as they didn't ban the book I think it's okay. I believe the author would think the same thing.
